The pattern reminds me of an ancient mosaic, with little fragments of color fitted together in a way that seems almost too perfect to be natural. I particularly love this elongated, softly pointed shape. Its name literally means \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003emany colors\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, a fitting description for a stone known for its remarkable earthy palette.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes this particular variety so fascinating is its brecciated structure. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBreccia\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e is a geological term for rock that has fractured into angular pieces and subsequently become cemented together by minerals. Silica-rich fluids can fill the spaces between those fragments, preserving the broken pattern as the material hardens. Iron oxides and other mineral impurities contribute the reds, pinks, yellows, browns, and contrasting tones.
