Australian Moonstone Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
These Australian moonstones have the most beautiful warm, smoky palette, shifting from charcoal and silvery gray into taupe, honey and soft golden brown. Then the light hits them and that unmistakable moonstone sheen slides across the surface, giving all those earthy neutrals a silvery glow. I especially love the color gradient here. It feels rich and a little moody, with enough warmth to make it incredibly flattering against the skin.
Moonstone has been wrapped up in myth and magic for centuries, often connected with the moon, intuition and the rhythms of change. It’s traditionally thought of as a stone for trusting your instincts and moving through transitions with a little more ease, which seems fitting for a gemstone whose beauty changes every time the light moves across it.
