Tourmalinated Quartz Pendant with Hinged Bail in Sterling Silver and 18k Gold

There is something so dark and sexy about a really beautiful piece of tourmalinated quartz, and this one is exceptional. The quartz itself is incredibly clean and clear, filled with a dense scattering of fine black tourmaline needles that seem to float inside the stone. I love the contrast between that clarity and all those sharp black lines. It gives the stone an edgy quality while still feeling incredibly polished and sophisticated.

The long, tapered shape was another thing I loved about this stone, so I kept the silverwork streamlined and let that silhouette really stand out. I set it in my signature double bezel with two 18k gold prongs for a hit of warmth, then finished it with a large hinged bail that gives the pendant movement and makes the whole design feel a little more substantial. Even the back is patterned to echo the tourmaline needles inside the quartz. It's dark, unusual and elegant all at once, and easily one of my favorite tourmalinated quartz pieces I've made.

Tourmalinated quartz brings together clear quartz and naturally occurring black tourmaline inclusions. Metaphysically, it's associated with grounding, protection and clarity, combining the properties traditionally attributed to both stones.
