Vivid Turquoise Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
The color of this turquoise is fantastic, a vivid saturated blue with bits of natural matrix scattered throughout the strand. What really makes these stones different is the faceted cut. Turquoise is much more commonly seen with a smooth polish, so all those tiny facets give these rondelles an unexpected sparkle when they catch the light. I love the combination of that brilliant blue color, the earthy matrix, and the flash from the facets. It still has everything I love about turquoise, but in a strand that feels a little different from what you usually see.
Turquoise has been treasured across cultures for thousands of years and is traditionally associated with protection, strength, and good fortune. Its connection to both earth and sky has also made it a symbol of balance, grounding, and truth.
