This garnet has a beautiful, rich wine-red color with just the right amount of depth. It's a particularly clean stone, without the nearly black appearance that darker garnets can sometimes have. Light brings out gorgeous shades of raspberry and deep crimson, giving the color a richness that's especially appealing. The rose-cut facets catch little glints of light across the surface, while the pear shape gives the stone an elegant silhouette. The reverse has a textured silver pattern, adding a little extra detail to the back.
Garnet has been treasured for thousands of years, appearing in jewelry from ancient Egypt and Rome to elaborate Victorian designs. Its name comes from the Latin granatus, meaning seed-like, a reference to the rich red seeds of a pomegranate. In traditional crystal lore, garnet is associated with passion, vitality, courage, and devotion.
