Ethiopian Opal Hand-Knotted Necklace in Sterling Silver

There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape that molds effortlessly against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure—flexible, grounding, and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands; they bring a lush, polished finish to any outfit, whether paired with other necklaces or worn alone as a statement piece. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones, a detail that makes the piece as refined as it feels.

This Ethiopian opal strand seems to glow from within. Against a soft ivory body color, flashes of electric green, gold, orange, blue, and violet appear and disappear as the stones catch the light. Some opals glow with broad washes of color while others reveal tiny sparks of fire, giving the strand an ever-changing quality that keeps drawing the eye back. It's one of those necklaces that looks beautiful in photographs but becomes even more captivating in person.

Opal has long been associated with inspiration, intuition, and creativity. Its shifting colors have made it a symbol of transformation and possibility, believed to encourage imagination while helping the wearer embrace change with confidence.

Opal Care

Ethiopian opals are prized for their remarkable play of color and benefit from a little extra care. Because these opals are naturally hydrophane, they can absorb moisture or oils from lotions, perfumes, and cosmetics, which may temporarily affect their appearance.

For best results, apply makeup, lotions, and fragrance before putting on your necklace, and remove it before swimming, bathing, or sleeping. Store it in the pouch provided when not in use and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

With simple, mindful care, your opals will remain beautiful for many years to come.
