Pink Tourmaline Architectural Platform Ring in Sterling Silver & 22k Gold
This ring is one of my platform designs, a completely hand-fabricated construction built piece by piece from sterling silver rather than around a conventional ring setting. The stone sits high above the finger on an open architectural framework of curved silver rails, layered platforms and individually formed details. From the front, the structure creates a strong geometric frame around the stone; turn it to the side and you can really see the complexity of the construction and the hours of metalsmithing hidden beneath it.
At the center is a beautiful rose-cut pink tourmaline surrounded by a rich 22k yellow gold bezel. Its faceted surface catches flashes of pink as the light moves across it, while the warmth of the high-karat gold creates a striking contrast against the darkened sterling silver. The stone is elevated on a textured, dimensional platform framed by softly curved silver forms, giving the entire ring an almost architectural presence while allowing glimpses through the open structure beneath.
Pink tourmaline is traditionally associated with love, compassion and emotional healing. It is believed to encourage openness of the heart while supporting emotional resilience, warmth and connection. Often connected with the heart chakra, pink tourmaline is also associated with balancing tenderness with strength, a fitting symbolism for a stone held within such a substantial and intricately constructed setting.
