Pink Tourmaline Architectural Platform Ring in Sterling Silver & 22k Gold
This ring is one of my platform designs, a completely hand-fabricated construction built piece by piece from sterling silver rather than around a conventional ring setting. The stone sits high above the finger on an open architectural framework of curved silver rails, layered platforms and individually formed details. From the front, the sweeping outer framework surrounds a textured geometric platform; turn it to the side and you can really see the complexity of the construction and the hours of metalsmithing hidden beneath it.
At the center is a beautiful oval rose-cut pink tourmaline surrounded by a rich 22k yellow gold bezel. The stone has wonderful clarity and a softer, slightly dusky pink color with flashes of brighter pink appearing across its facets as the light moves. Its rounded shape creates a beautiful contrast against the pointed geometry of the textured silver platform beneath it, while the warm gold bezel draws the eye directly to the stone.
Pink tourmaline is traditionally associated with love, compassion and emotional healing. It is believed to encourage openness of the heart while supporting emotional resilience, warmth and connection. Often connected with the heart chakra, pink tourmaline is also associated with balancing tenderness with strength, a fitting symbolism for a stone held within such a substantial and intricately constructed setting.
Please refer to the video for the most accurate depiction of the tourmaline's color; the still photographs show a darker, more intense pink than the stone appears in person.
