Pink Tourmaline Wide Band Ring in Sterling Silver

This ring is built around one of my heavily textured sterling silver bands, with an irregular surface of individually applied silver details that creates a different pattern every time I make one. The finished band is oxidized to deepen the recesses before the raised silver is polished back to brightness, giving it the weathered, aged character I love. The band tapers toward the back for a more comfortable fit.

At the center is a rose-cut pink tourmaline in an unusual diamond shape, with a beautiful natural pink color, good translucency and the characteristic inclusions that give tourmaline so much depth. The facets catch the light across the surface while the geometric shape gives the ring a slightly unexpected edge against the rugged silver.

Pink tourmaline can be particularly difficult to photograph accurately. Please refer to the video for the most accurate depiction of color; the still photographs show a darker, more intense pink than the stone appears in person.

Pink tourmaline is traditionally associated with love, compassion and emotional healing. It is believed to encourage openness of the heart, ease emotional tension and support a gentler relationship with oneself and others. Often connected with the heart chakra, it has become a favorite for those drawn to stones associated with warmth, connection and emotional balance.
