Turquoise Heishi Hand-Knotted Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
This is a gorgeous, substantial strand of turquoise with graduated heishi beads ranging from vivid blue-green to deeper teal, with plenty of natural brown and dark matrix running through them. I love the irregularity of the heishi and how much variation there is from one stone to the next. The larger beads toward the center give the strand some real presence, while all of that matrix keeps the turquoise looking earthy and natural. At 24 inches, it’s a beautiful longer strand and especially good for layering.
Turquoise has been treasured for thousands of years and is traditionally associated with protection, wisdom, and good fortune. It is also thought to bring balance and grounding while encouraging strength and clear communication.
