Faceted Ethiopian Opal Hand Knotted Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a quiet rhythm, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape that molds easily against the skin. It feels grounding, fluid, and endlessly touchable. I love how these strands invite layering—adding depth and texture when stacked, or holding their own as a luminous statement. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to harmonize with the stones, giving the piece a refined balance of strength and softness.
This faceted Ethiopian opal strand is pure fire. The stones flash with vivid greens, oranges, blues, and violets that seem to shift with every breath of light. The facets amplify the play of color, making the entire strand shimmer with intensity. Graduated in size, the beads carry a weight and presence that feels both opulent and alive. High-grade and rare, this is the kind of necklace that feels like a treasure—something you’ll reach for again and again.
Opal has long been regarded as a stone of mystery and intuition, said to spark creativity and illuminate hidden truths. Its ever-changing light reflects the beauty of transformation and the unseen currents of the soul.

One-of-a-kind and made with care in my studio.
Care: Opals, in general, are a soft stone and can be damaged if not given just a little extra attention. Welo opals are actually somewhat porous, so they can absorb lotions, makeup and perfumes. So you want to avoid getting these wet, getting any lotions, perfumes or makeup on them. If they get wet with water they can lose their flashiness until they dry out which can take days to weeks. Damage can be permanent if that happens so get ready first and then put on your opals last. You should not sleep while wearing them and if you need to clean them buff with a soft cloth. When you aren't wearing them return them to the pouch they came in and store safely. Don't leave them sitting in direct sunlight either. So long as you be sure to do these easy and simple things they will stay beautiful for years and years to come.
