White Sapphire Silverite Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
I love the silvery sheen of these white sapphires. They're opaque, with a beautiful pearly white color and flashes of silver that move across the faceted surfaces as they catch the light. There's a subtle variation in the stones, from creamy white to pale silvery gray, giving the strand plenty of character while keeping that beautiful, luminous look throughout. This is such a good staple necklace to have in your collection. The neutral color works with practically everything, and that soft metallic shimmer makes it much more interesting than an ordinary white gemstone strand. Beautiful on its own and especially good mixed with other colors and textures.
Sapphire belongs to the corundum mineral family, best known for its brilliant blue varieties, although it naturally occurs in many colors, including white. These opaque sapphires are often marketed in the bead trade as silverite, a name used for their distinctively treated silvery appearance. In traditional gemstone lore, white sapphire is associated with wisdom, clarity, focus and inner strength.
