Agni Manitite and Baroque Pearl Sterling Silver Earrings

There’s a beautiful contrast in this pair between the dark, smoky Agni Manitite and the luminous baroque pearls below. The Agni Manitite is faceted, catching little flashes of light against its earthy brown color, while the pearls have wonderfully irregular surfaces with flashes of pink, cream and soft rainbow iridescence. They’re lightweight and swingy, with plenty of movement when worn.

The story behind Agni Manitite is what made me want to work with these stones in the first place. Found on the island of Java in Indonesia, these unusual tektites were formed by an ancient meteorite impact, when the tremendous heat of the collision melted terrestrial material and sent it into the atmosphere before it cooled and fell back to earth. Their name comes from the Sanskrit word Agni, meaning fire, and they’ve become known as the “Pearl of the Divine Fire.” There’s something pretty incredible about holding a stone created in such a violent burst of heat so long ago, particularly one that now comes from the lush volcanic landscape of Java.

Agni Manitite is associated with transformation, creativity, inner strength and personal evolution. Baroque pearls have traditionally been associated with wisdom, serenity and emotional balance.
