Ametrine Faceted Oval Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
This is a particularly beautiful strand of ametrine, with generously sized, faceted ovals and a gorgeous blend of soft violet and champagne-gold. The stones lean more toward purple, with delicate washes of golden citrine appearing throughout. The colors are subtle and beautifully blended, just as I like to see in natural ametrine. These are excellent quality stones, remarkably clear and nearly free of visible inclusions. Their generous size and beautifully cut facets really show off the color and clarity. I have only one strand like this.
Ametrine is a fascinating variety of quartz that combines amethyst and citrine within the same crystal. Its two colors develop through differences in the oxidation state of iron within the stone, creating a natural meeting of purple and golden hues. In traditional crystal lore, ametrine is associated with creativity, mental clarity and balance, drawing on the symbolism of both amethyst and citrine.
