Aqua Chalcedony Wide Band Ring in Sterling Silver
This ring is built around one of my heavily textured sterling silver bands, with an irregular surface of individually applied silver details that creates a different pattern every time I make one. The finished band is oxidized to deepen the recesses before the raised silver is polished back to brightness, giving it the weathered, aged character I love. The substantial width gives the ring a bold presence on the hand, while the band tapers toward the back for a more comfortable fit.
At the center is a rose cut aqua chalcedony in a beautiful translucent watery blue. The broad facets across the surface catch the light softly rather than throwing a lot of sparkle, shifting between pale icy blue and slightly deeper aqua depending on the angle. Against all of that darkened, heavily textured silver, the simplicity and cool color of the stone really stand out.
Metaphysically, chalcedony is traditionally associated with calm, emotional balance and thoughtful communication.
