Black Ethiopian Opal Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape that molds effortlessly against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure—flexible, grounding, and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands; they bring a lush, polished finish to any outfit, whether paired with other necklaces or worn alone as a statement of quiet luxury. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones, a detail that makes the piece as refined as it feels.
This strand features faceted Black Ethiopian opals, some of the most mesmerizing stones you’ll ever see. At first glance, they appear dark and mysterious, but when the light catches them, flashes of vivid green, red, and blue ignite across their surface. Their fiery play of color feels almost otherworldly, like holding a galaxy in your hands. A piece like this is a true splurge, but absolutely worth it for its rarity and beauty.
Opal has long been associated with creativity, passion, and transformation. Believed to amplify one’s emotions and connect to inspiration, Black Ethiopian opal is especially treasured for its protective qualities and for illuminating hidden truths. Wearing it is said to bring both mystery and magic into your everyday life.

Care: Opals, in general, are a soft stone and can be damaged if not taken care of properly. You want to avoid getting these wet, getting any lotions, perfumes or makeup on them. That means no showering or swimming while wearing and put them on after you've gotten ready. If they get wet with water they can lose their flashiness until they dry out which can take days to weeks. Welo opals are actually somewhat porous, so they can also absorb lotions, makeup and perfumes. Damage can be permanent if that happens so get ready first and then put on your opals last. You should not sleep while wearing them and if you need to clean them buff with a soft cloth. When you aren't wearing them return them to the pouch they came in and store safely. Don't leave them sitting in direct sunlight either. So long as you be sure to do these things, which are really very simple, they will stay beautiful for many years to come.
