Black Opal Hand-Knotted Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
Some gemstones whisper, while others seem to hold entire worlds inside them. These black opals remind me of deep water at twilight, where shades of midnight blue, charcoal, and smoky green hide beneath the surface until a beam of light suddenly awakens flashes of brilliant emerald, electric cobalt, and vivid teal. Every turn reveals something new. Some stones flicker quietly, while others burst into unexpected color before settling back into shadow again. It's that sense of mystery—that feeling that there's always another flash waiting to be discovered—that has made black opal one of the world's most captivating gemstones.
Black opal is often associated with intuition, transformation, protection, and creativity. Historically treasured for its ever-changing play of color, it is believed to encourage inspiration, strengthen intuition, and remind us that beauty often reveals itself little by little.
