Tourmalinated Quartz Pendant with 18k Gold Accents in Sterling Silver
I love setting oval stones horizontally like this. It completely changes the feeling of the shape, making it a little bolder and more assertive, and the two connection points let the pendant sit beautifully across the neckline. This one looks fantastic worn on its own, but the horizontal shape also makes it really good layered with other necklaces.
The tourmalinated quartz itself is gorgeous, with incredibly clear quartz filled with black tourmaline needles that crisscross through the stone like ink suspended in glass. There is something a little dark and edgy about tourmalinated quartz that I love, but it still manages to feel polished and sophisticated. I added two 18k gold prongs along the bottom for a hit of warmth against all that black and silver. The back is patterned to echo the tourmaline needles inside the stone, so even the details you don't normally see are tied into the design.
Tourmalinated quartz combines clear quartz with naturally occurring inclusions of black tourmaline. Metaphysically, it's associated with grounding, protection and clarity, bringing together the properties traditionally attributed to both stones.
