Chrysocolla & Tenorite Earrings in Sterling Silver

The color in these chrysocolla and tenorite stones is incredible. Brilliant turquoise blue seems to bloom and drift through areas of deep, inky black, almost like powdered pigment dispersing through water. Up close, the chrysocolla has a soft, feathery quality that makes the pattern feel full of movement, while the black tenorite gives the color this gorgeous depth and contrast.

The long, slender shape gives that unusual pattern plenty of room to unfold and keeps the overall design clean and graphic. I kept the silverwork restrained, with a pair of silver spheres flanking each stone near the top. A complementary pattern has been applied to the silver on the back, echoing the organic markings in the stones and giving the reverse its own beautiful finish.

These are the kind of earrings that make an impact through the stones themselves. The saturated blue and black combination is bold, a little mysterious and completely different from the turquoise colors you see everywhere else.

Chrysocolla is traditionally associated with communication, calm and emotional balance. Tenorite is a naturally occurring copper oxide mineral and is often associated in crystal traditions with intuition, clarity and transformation.
