Chrysocolla with Cuprite & Tenorite Earrings

Electric turquoise, deep black and rusty coppery orange make these stones almost impossibly graphic. The colors break across each other in bold natural patterns, with a sweep of warm cuprite appearing across the top of each stone. This pair mirrors beautifully, almost like two tiny abstract landscapes cut from the same strange terrain. They're vivid, unusual and incredibly striking on the ear, yet lightweight enough to wear all day and well into the night.

All three of those colors come from copper minerals occurring together in the same stone. Chrysocolla gives us that unmistakable turquoise blue, tenorite creates the dramatic black, and cuprite brings in the warm coppery red and orange. It's a rare combination, made even more remarkable by how beautifully matched this pair is. Nature doesn't repeat patterns like these, so this exact collision of color and mineral will only ever exist in these earrings.

There is a bit of mythology wrapped around these minerals as well. Chrysocolla has long been associated with intuition, communication and creative expression, while cuprite carries more elemental associations with vitality, courage and personal power. Together there is an interesting tension between the two: thought and instinct, expression and desire, the vivid blue of chrysocolla against the darker heat of cuprite.
