Chrysoprase & Uvarovite Garnet Necklace in Sterling Silver

There was a lot of thought behind the design of this one. I built the shape around an incredible piece of vivid green uvarovite garnet, using open space and clusters of my silver granulation to create something that feels intricate without becoming heavy. I love the almost exotic shape that emerged, especially with all of that negative space allowing the individual silver bubbles to become part of the design rather than simply decoration.

The uvarovite is exceptional, with a densely crystalline surface and an almost electric green sparkle. Above it I set a faceted chrysoprase in an equally vibrant shade of green. The two stones are completely different in texture, one sparkling and crystalline, the other smooth and luminous, but the color connects them beautifully. The hinged bail gives the pendant movement and adds another structural element to the silhouette. Even the back received its own deeply textured pattern, because I wanted the entire piece to feel considered from every angle.

Uvarovite is a rare green member of the garnet family, prized for the brilliant natural drusy crystals that form across its surface. Metaphysically, it is associated with abundance, vitality and individuality, while chrysoprase is traditionally connected with joy, emotional clarity and optimism.
