Cobalto Calcite Druzy Sterling Silver Earrings

The color of this cobalto calcite is incredible, an intense, saturated pink with a naturally sparkling crystalline surface and a scattering of dark mineral crystals across each stone. I especially love those darker inclusions against the vivid pink. They give the stones a little edge and make their natural formation that much more interesting.

I kept the silverwork open and airy around these, building an elongated frame above each stone and adding clusters of my silver granulation around the edges. The open space gives them a slightly exotic silhouette and plenty of presence without making them feel heavy. They're lightweight on the ear, with just enough movement to catch the sparkle of the druzy when worn.

Cobalto calcite is an unusual variety of calcite colored by cobalt and prized for the extraordinary pink to magenta color it can produce. Metaphysically, it is associated with compassion, emotional healing and joy.
