Confetti Chrysocolla Earrings in Sterling Silver

Confetti Chrysocolla is one of those materials that becomes more interesting the closer you look. These matched stones come from Obi Island, Indonesia, and are formed from translucent chalcedony filled with colorful copper-bearing minerals. Vivid turquoise and green formations mingle with rusty reds, earthy browns and flashes of native copper, some appearing almost suspended within the stone. The translucency lets you look into those mineral formations rather than simply across a pattern on the surface, giving the stones an incredible sense of depth.

The name “Confetti Chrysocolla” suits this material beautifully. The colorful inclusions seem scattered throughout the chalcedony, creating tiny abstract compositions within each stone. These two are especially beautiful together, with their long teardrop shapes leaving plenty of open, translucent space above the concentrated color below.

I kept the sterling silver setting deliberately simple so there wasn't much competing with the stones, finishing each earring with a cluster of my silver bubbles at the bottom. A complementary texture has been applied to the silver on the reverse, giving the backs their own finished detail.

Chrysocolla is traditionally associated with communication, calm and emotional balance, while chalcedony is associated with harmony and stability.
