Fossil Coral Bubble Band Ring in Sterling Silver

This ring pairs a beautifully patterned fossil coral with one of my open bubble bands, a lighter-scale alternative to my wide band designs. Two textured sterling silver rails curve around the finger, joined by individually formed silver spheres that seem to float within the open space between them. Oxidized recesses bring out the texture and dimensional details while the split construction keeps the band visually open beneath the substantial stone.

The fossil coral is the real fascination here. What looks almost like a cluster of tiny flowers is actually the preserved structure of ancient coral, transformed over millions of years as the original material was gradually replaced by silica. The individual coral patterns remain visible within the stone, creating the warm cream, honey and soft brown markings across its surface. No two pieces of fossil coral preserve that ancient structure in quite the same way.

Fossil coral is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and transformation. Because of its ancient organic origins and extraordinarily slow formation, it is also associated with patience, longevity and connection to the natural world.
