Fossil Palm & Sterling Silver Teardrop Earrings

These earrings were built around a beautifully matched pair of fossil palm stones with creamy tan patterning against an almost black background. The markings twist and branch through each stone in slightly different ways, giving them an organic, almost otherworldly quality while still clearly belonging together as a pair.

I surrounded the stones with open sterling silver teardrop frames, deeply textured along the edges and scattered with my signature silver bubbles. I love the way they seem to float through the negative space above the stones, some standing alone and others gathering into small clusters. The irregular arrangement gives the silverwork an almost effervescent quality and makes the entire design feel alive.

There is quite a bit of silverwork here, but the open construction keeps the earrings airy and relatively lightweight. The elongated teardrop silhouette gives them plenty of presence without feeling overly heavy or substantial on the ear.

Fossil palm began as ancient palm material that was gradually replaced by minerals over millions of years, preserving its distinctive internal structures in stone. It is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and connection to the past.
