Gilalite in Quartz (Medusa Quartz) Sterling Silver Embellished Stud Earrings

These stud earrings feature rare gilalite in quartz — sometimes called Medusa Quartz or Paraiba Quartz — with vivid aqua inclusions suspended inside clear quartz. In this pair, one stone measures approximately 14 × 10.5mm and the other 17 × 14.5mm. The blue forms a striking line and concentrated inclusion within the transparent quartz, almost as if color has been captured mid-movement. I’ve framed each stone in sterling silver and added my signature granulation — little silver bubbles that give them texture and dimension without overpowering the stone. They’re bold, unusual, and incredibly cool. You can angle them slightly up the ear or let them sit straight on the lobe depending on your mood.

Gilalite in quartz is considered a rare collector’s stone. The gem-quality material most people know as Medusa Quartz was discovered in a small deposit in Paraíba, Brazil in 2008. The aqua inclusions are copper-bearing gilalite, often forming radiating or suspended patterns inside clear quartz. Because no significant additional deposits have surfaced, high-quality pieces like this are limited and highly sought after.

Metaphysically, gilalite in quartz is associated with clarity, emotional release, and calm communication. It’s often used in meditation practices to help dissolve old emotional patterns and bring a sense of peace and joy — a quiet strength carried inside a striking stone.
