Green Kyanite Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver

There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.

This shade of green makes me think of tropical waters, but not those brilliant turquoise blues you usually see in photographs. I'm thinking of those gorgeous, clear green waters, somewhere between sea glass and the soft green of a shallow lagoon. That's the color of these kyanite beads, and it's absolutely lovely. The faceted rondelles graduate gently in size, with a fresh, luminous green that has just enough variation to keep things interesting. There's a delicate sparkle as the facets catch the light, but the real attraction is that beautiful, refreshing color. Green kyanite isn't something you come across nearly as often as its familiar blue counterpart, which makes a strand like this particularly appealing.

Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral known for its distinctive crystal structure and unusual directional hardness. Although blue is its best-known color, it also occurs naturally in green, gray, black and other shades. In traditional crystal lore, green kyanite is associated with balance, connection to nature, emotional clarity and personal growth.
