Iolite Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

I have been completely seduced by this particular shade of blue lately, that deep blue-violet that seems to shift somewhere between twilight skies and ink-dark velvet depending on the light. This pendant features a faceted iolite in the richest cool-toned violet-blue, set within one of my newer open-frame designs that I’ve been especially excited about lately. The negative space around the stone gives the piece an airy, sculptural feel, while clusters of silver granules add little moments of texture and sparkle throughout the design.

Iolite is sometimes referred to as the “water sapphire” because of its beautiful shifting tones and pleochroism, meaning the color can appear different depending on the angle and lighting. This particular stone stays fairly saturated and blue overall, but you can still catch those subtle violet undertones and inky flashes as it moves. Historically, iolite has been associated with intuition, inner vision, and guidance. Many people are drawn to it for its calming energy and its connection to clarity and self-discovery.
