Laguna Agate Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver
This piece of Laguna agate has such an interesting depth to it. The colors are rich and earthy, with golden ochre, cream, deep red and smoky plum giving it an almost autumnal palette. But it’s what’s happening inside the stone that really makes this one special. There are formations that look almost botryoidal, with translucent agate formed over them alongside all of that intricate banding. The longer you look into it, the more there is to see.
I set the stone in my double bezel and surrounded it with clusters of silver granulation, including a larger group along the bottom that plays really well with the rounded formations within the agate. I love the shape of this one too. It’s somewhere between an oval and a marquise, and all of those silver details around the edges give it an unusual silhouette. The back is finished with a subtle texture, keeping the focus on that fantastic stone and the metalwork surrounding it.
Laguna agate is one of the most highly regarded agates, prized for its intricate banding, rich colors and the incredible variety of patterns that can occur within a single stone. Metaphysically, agate is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and balance.
