Moss Aquamarine Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver

There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.

Moss aquamarine has a moodier, more complex color than the clear pale blue most people associate with aquamarine. This strand moves through watery blue and blue-green into smoky gray, muted olive, and occasional warmer mossy tones. Some of the stones are beautifully transparent while others are filled with the natural inclusions that give moss aquamarine its distinctive character. The faceted rondelles add flashes of light throughout, and I especially love the way the cooler aquamarine colors mingle with those earthier tones. There’s a lot to discover in this strand when you see it up close.

Aquamarine has long been associated with calm, clarity, and courage. Moss aquamarine is also believed to bring a grounding quality to the stone, balancing aquamarine’s connection to water with the earthier character of its natural inclusions.
