This polychrome jasper immediately reminded me of a landscape. The unusually distinct bands run almost perfectly across the stone, with cool green-blue above the warmer earth tones below. Polychrome jasper comes from Madagascar and is typically dominated by rust, ochre, brown and pink, which makes the cooler coloring in this particular stone especially appealing. There’s something about it that invites you to keep looking, almost like your eye wants to turn those bands of color into a place.
This is the kind of pendant that can become an everyday favorite. Interesting enough to make a simple outfit feel more pulled together, but easy to wear with the colors and textures already in your wardrobe. And while most people will only ever see the front, the back has been patterned as well. I like that little bit of detail that's really just for the person wearing it. It makes the whole piece feel complete.
Jasper has traditionally been associated with grounding, stability and connection to the earth. That meaning seems particularly suited to a stone that already looks so much like a tiny landscape.
