There’s something especially good about polychrome jasper when the natural pattern falls into these broad, graphic layers. This stone looks almost like a tiny abstract landscape, with sweeping bands of earth and color stacked across its surface. Polychrome jasper comes from Madagascar and is known for its incredible range of natural patterning, but green is a less common color in the material, making stones with this much deep olive especially interesting.
The rounded shield-like shape makes this an easy pendant to wear while still giving it plenty of character. It has enough color to bring something interesting to a simple black top, linen shirt or sweater, and the earthy palette makes it surprisingly versatile. It feels like the kind of necklace you start reaching for without thinking about it, and then inevitably have someone ask you about the stone. The back has been patterned as well, so the pendant feels considered and finished from every angle, including the part that mostly belongs to you.
Jasper has traditionally been associated with grounding, stability and connection to the earth. With a stone that looks as though it carries its own tiny landscape inside it, that symbolism feels particularly fitting.
