Teal Blue Grandidierite Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver

There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.

Grandidierite is one of those gemstones that even many experienced collectors have never encountered. First discovered in Madagascar and considered one of the rarer gemstones available today, it remains largely unknown outside of collector circles. That rarity is part of what makes this strand so special.

The smooth rondelles move through beautiful shades of teal, seafoam, aqua and deep blue-green, with darker stones scattered throughout the strand. The mix immediately makes me think of tropical water, from those clear pale blue-greens near the shore to the deeper colors farther out. There's a lot of natural variation here, and that's really what makes the strand. Every section looks a little different as the colors move from light to dark and back again.

Metaphysically, grandidierite is associated with clarity, authenticity and inner truth. It is believed to encourage honest self-expression and help bring your actions into better alignment with what actually matters to you.
