Rose Cut Sunstone Wide Band Ring in Sterling Silver

This ring is built around one of my heavily textured sterling silver bands, a design I make by creating an irregular surface of individually applied silver details and then oxidizing the finished piece to bring all of that texture into relief. No two bands come out exactly alike. The darkened recesses and bright raised silver give it the weathered, almost ancient character I love, while the substantial width gives the ring a bold presence on the hand. The band tapers considerably toward the back to make it more comfortable to wear.

At the center is a warm rose cut sunstone, its faceted surface catching little flashes of coppery orange and gold as it moves through the light. The rose cut gives the stone sparkle without making it overly polished or flashy, and its smaller scale leaves plenty of that textured silver visible around it.

Metaphysically, sunstone is traditionally associated with confidence, vitality, independence and creativity.
