Tourmalinated Quartz & Black Druzy Earrings with 18k Gold

There is something incredibly striking about tourmalinated quartz when the quartz is this clear. Fine black needles of natural tourmaline crisscross through each stone like ink suspended inside glass, creating a pattern that looks almost drawn by hand but was formed entirely by nature. These long teardrops have a dark, graphic quality that feels a little edgy, a little sexy, and still beautifully refined.

Above each quartz is a round black druzy, adding a completely different kind of texture and a subtle crystalline sparkle. I kept the silverwork streamlined and connected the two stones so they move independently when worn. Two 18k gold prongs sweep across the bottom of each quartz, just enough warm gold to break through the black and silver palette and elevate the entire design.

Tourmalinated quartz combines clear quartz with naturally occurring black tourmaline inclusions. Metaphysically, it is associated with grounding, protection and clarity, while black tourmaline is traditionally believed to help deflect negative energy.
