Trapiche Amethyst Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver
This pendant features a striking slice of trapiche amethyst, a rare and naturally forming pattern distinguished by its star-like or spoke-like internal geometry. Unlike typical amethyst, trapiche formations develop only under very specific geological conditions, with violet amethyst growing through a contrasting matrix to create these unusual geometric patterns. Each slice reveals the formation a little differently, which is a big part of what makes these stones so interesting.
This one has especially bold areas of deep purple amethyst surrounded by the pale matrix, making the crystal structure really easy to see. I love stones like this because they’re beautiful, but they’re also just genuinely cool rocks. You get to see something about how the mineral actually formed, and the more closely you look at it, the more there is to appreciate.
Amethyst has traditionally been associated with protection, clarity and intuition. The radiating geometry of trapiche amethyst is also often connected with balance and inner alignment, which feels particularly fitting for a stone with such a strong natural structure.
The reverse is patterned as well, giving the back its own finished surface even though you may be the only one who knows it’s there.
