Multicolored Pink & Purple Sapphire Hand-Knotted Strand Necklace in Sterling Silver
There’s an undeniably sensuous allure to a hand-knotted strand of gemstones. Each bead moves with a liquid grace, the silk thread giving the necklace a supple drape against the skin. In the hand, they’re a joy to roll between your fingers, smooth and rhythmic with just the right weight. It’s a tactile pleasure, flexible and deeply satisfying. I adore layering these strands, playing with different stones, colors, and lengths, but they’re just as beautiful worn alone. Each one is knotted on silk thread chosen to complement the stones.
These sapphires are all about bold, saturated color. Brilliant hot pinks and rich raspberry shades mingle with smoky grayish purples, soft lavender tones, and deeper violet stones. I particularly love the contrast between the vivid pinks and those moodier, almost steely purple shades. It gives the strand a little edge and keeps the bright colors from feeling too sweet. The faceted rondelles catch the light beautifully, and the mix of colors has a lively, almost electric quality. It's a striking combination, especially if you love sapphires that venture well beyond the traditional blue.
Sapphire is a variety of corundum, a remarkably durable mineral that occurs naturally in an extraordinary range of colors. In traditional gemstone lore, sapphires have long been associated with wisdom, loyalty, and protection, while pink and purple varieties are often connected with love, creativity, and intuition.
