Ethiopian Black Opal Petite Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

This Ethiopian black opal is a particularly beautiful one, with a dark, mysterious body color and an incredible display of fiery color beneath its surface. Brilliant flashes of emerald green, vivid red, and glowing orange move through the stone as it catches the light, sometimes appearing in distinct patches and other times mingling together. The oval stone has a rose-cut surface, with facets that catch the light and add another dimension to the opal's already fascinating play of color. I love the contrast between the darkness of the stone and those intense flashes of fire. It's dramatic, colorful, and quite mesmerizing for such a petite piece. I've set it in silver with a few decorative granules beneath the stone, while the reverse has a richly textured finish.
