Rose-Cut Labradorite Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver

This labradorite has a gorgeous flash of electric blue against its deep smoky gray body color. The color appears in broad, luminous streaks across the stone, shifting from rich cobalt to brilliant blue as the light catches it. The contrast is especially striking, with the darker areas making that intense blue seem even brighter.

The elongated pear shape gives the pendant a beautiful silhouette, and the rose-cut facets add another dimension to the stone's natural flash. I love the combination of the angular facets and the almost liquid appearance of the blue beneath them. Three polished silver granules finish the pointed end, while the reverse has a richly textured silver backing. I've paired it with a sterling silver clover-link chain, whose unusual little quatrefoil-shaped links add a decorative touch without competing with the stone.

Labradorite is a variety of feldspar famous for its remarkable optical effect known as labradorescence. Light interacts with microscopic layers within the mineral, producing those extraordinary flashes of blue, green, gold, and sometimes even violet. The phenomenon is what makes labradorite so fascinating, since a stone that looks dark and subdued from one angle can suddenly light up with incredible color. In traditional crystal lore, labradorite is associated with transformation, intuition, and a sense of possibility.
